What is a General Power of Attorney?

A General Power of Attorney (GPA) is a legal document that grants someone the authority to act in a particular way on behalf of a property owner. There are two parties in a GPA, Principal and Agent. Agent refers to the individual in whose favour the General Power Attorney or Power of Attorney is provided, while Principal refers to the person who signs the Power of Attorney.

A General Power of Attorney is sometimes thought of as a document in which an owner appoints an agent to act on his or her behalf and in place of the owner. Section 85 of the Indian Evidence Act talks about the requirements of authentication for a GPA or General Power of Attorney.

Registration of GPA or General Power of Attorney is not mandatory under the Indian laws. Power of Attorney can be registered by presenting before the Registrar. In general, a GPA, or General Power of Attorney, is revocable under Indian law, with the exception of situations where it serves as a security for a debt.

A deed of cancellation may be executed to revoke a registered Power of Attorney, and for an authenticated Power of Attorney. The procedures of getting a General Power Attorney in India are as follows;

●After choosing the person to whom you wish to grant the powers, draught the general power of attorney deed.

●Since it involves immovable property, print it on a stamp paper with the appropriate value for the State in where you reside or the location of the property. Words From Clients

I contacted Lawchef to assist with a somewhat scary situation in which I was being sued personally for something that wasn't our fault. I was concerned we would lose everything, but after only a few sessions, the lawchef team had us under control.
